German champion FC Bayern Munich addressed injuries to its backcourt by signing perhaps the premier free agent guard available in European basketball, Bo McCalebb, on Wednesday. The 2012 Euroleague Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy Winner, McCalebb (1.83 meters, 29 years old) played last season for Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, averaging 11.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 24 Euroleague games. McCalebb has played five Euroleague seasons for three different teams: Partizan Belgrade, Montepaschi Siena and Fenerbahce Ulker. He led Partizan to the 2010 Euroleague Final Four and repeated that achievement with Siena the following season. He was among the Euroleague’s leaders in scoring (fourth, 1,341 points) and steals (second, 170) over the past five seasons. In Munich, he fills a void created when starting point guard Anton Gavel was lost to injury.
